It’s that time of the year again!

Navratri is one of the most important Hindu festivals celebrated twice in a year. People from all over the world celebrate Navratri with enthusiasm.

 

If you plan to fast this Navratri ensure that it is done the healthy way.

It can help you detoxify, cleanse your mind and leave you feeling great. Although this fasting can be a great way to shape up your body and lose some WEIGHT.

Fasting is a way to give our body a break from the regular routine.

How Navratri foods turns healthy?

Cooking right:

Combine high carbohydrate like potatoes, sab Dana with lots of fibrous foods like tomatoes, bottle gourd, spinach, capsicum etc.

Use healthier alternatives:

Amaranth- best protein source, make a porridge with milk or namkeen daliya. Substitute of sugar with jaggary or honey.

Choose healthy when eating out: / Snack healthy:

Try and adopt healthy snacking like fruit dish. Don’t binge on namkeens packets (they are high in salt and fat)

Eat lots of fruit raitas, dates, dry fruits, apple kheer etc.

Drink right:

Keep your self-hydrated… (Drink lots of water and fluids like coconut water, lemon water, green tea, butter milk, skimmed milk instated of full cream milk)

Eat regular meals:

Eat small frequent meals regularly to prevent your body from feeling low and maintain blood glucose level. Don’t starve yourself.

Diet after Navratri fasting:

In such a situation, break your fast with some fruits or nuts. Warm soup or fresh moong water are light on the stomach & replenish fluid & electrolytes. Have a light meal with some cereals grains. This will help keep you light & keep your digestion in top shape.
